Alice in Wonderland is Burton-ized

hose who have grown curiouser and curiouser about what the offbeat reinventor of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory might conjure up in his version of Alice in Wonderland can feast their eyes on this array of concept art and publicity images, due to hang in movie theaters this week to promote the March 5, 2010, release.

"It has been Burton-ized" is how producer Richard Zanuck describes the director's vision of the Lewis Carroll classic. Many elements are familiar, from the enigmatic Caterpillar (Alan Rickman) to the fierce Jabberwock (Christopher Lee). But none has been presented in this sort of visually surreal fashion.

"We finished shooting in December after only 40 days," Zanuck says. Now the live action is being merged with CG animation and motion-capture creatures, and then transferred into 3-D.

The traditional tale has been freshened with a blast of girl power, courtesy of writer Linda Woolverton (Beauty and the Beast). Alice, 17, attends a party at a Victorian estate only to find she is about to be proposed to in front of hundreds of snooty society types. Off she runs, following a white rabbit into a hole and ending up in Wonderland, a place she visited 10 years before yet doesn't remember.

Among those who welcome her back is the Mad Hatter, a part tailor-made for Johnny Depp as he collaborates with Burton for the seventh time. "This character is off his rocker," Zanuck says.

Aussie actress Mia Wasikowska, 19, best known for HBO's In Treatment, has the coveted title role. "There is something real, honest and sincere about her," Zanuck says. "She's not a typical Hollywood starlet."

There is the usual Burton-esque ghoulishness (Helena Bonham Carter's Red Queen, whose favorite retort is "Off with their heads," has a moat filled with bobbing noggins), but Zanuck assures most kids can handle it. "The book itself is pretty dark," he notes. "This is for little people and people who read it when they were little 50 years ago."

The Wonderful World of Tim Burton
what else can you say. It's Tim Burton, dude is EPIC. Can't wait to see this one. I know my sister's gonna love this post. lol

Shepard Fairey.

Creator of the Iconic Obama Poster. Creator of All those Obey stickers you might of seen around everywhere pretty much. You see them all threw out the world. I think he's a Dope artist. Cool Ideas, edgy, pushing limits, how art should be in my opinion. I don't agree with everything his paintings are saying. But I can appreciate the Art. I'm coming from a family who came from Cuba. My Grandparent's left when my mom was 4 years old to give there family a better Life. And I'm not one for trashing the Country that blessed my Family With Right of asylum. Yes our country isn't perfect, we gotta remember were a young nation and were still learning. But thinking the Government is corrupt, this and that, Blah blah blah doesn't help. Everyone complains about whats not right, but none of them have solutions to the problem. Not really referring to Mr.Fairey just in general, because I think some of the stuff he's doing is great, making paintings about love and peace rather than violence is always a plus. But in certain situations WAR is necessary. Remember this Great Country was started with WAR. American Revolutionary war. People forget that, I don't know how though. Our country wasn't created in one big explosion lol (like my slight to the big BANG theory)

Co(CAR)lor wheel. . .

So I got really bored yesterday while my brother was making a mess in the living room like he does all the time with his toys. So I got the camera and took a picture of the cars I lined up in order of color. I think the picture looks cool. I was going to think of something to go with the picture but it stopped @ me thinking about it. Forgot about it till right now really. Let's see, its important to know the color wheel chart?

yea lets go with that. lol I remember learning all this stuff during art 1. aka the boring/ no freedom class. Teach you techniques and definitions. The Techniques is Dope, because you need that, and for some reason I missed the day they taught us how to paint with brushes cuz I suck ass lol. But the definitions? come on that's what English class is for. The Exercise I hated the most was pointillism and blind contour drawing. Did them all just wasn't a fan of them.

Official press release from nikepedia

Nike Sportswear and Grammy award winning recording artist Kanye West present the highly anticipated Nike Air Yeezy sneaker in Spring 2009.

The shoe, which takes West’s nickname Yeezy, draws upon the innovations from Nike’s rich sporting history and fuses them with original lines, materials, and design elements that reflect West’s unique style.

The Air Yeezy was developed from a strong relationship between West and Nike. Partnering with Nike Creative Director, Mark Smith, Kanye was taken through the product creation process, the same way athletes have with Nike Design for the past 37 years. This creative partnership of Smith and West’s talents as designers yielded a unique Nike Sportswear sneaker worth the wait. “Kanye is a truly creative talent,” said Smith. “He’s a natural designer—partnerships like this always enhance the creative experience and the end product.” West agrees that the partnership with Nike has been exciting. “Nike is such an important brand to me,” said West. “Whether you are on the court, in the street, in the club, at school, Nike represents excellence, the standard in design. Growing up, we looked forward to the release of new Nike’s the way we would an album by our favorite artist. So the opportunity to collaborate on a design with Mark Smith and Nike Design has been a dream come true, and a great experience.”

From the start, West and Nike’s shared vision was clear: to create a modern classic. An original Nike footwear style, that reflects elements of Nike’s sporting past, and remixes them with Nike innovation to deliver a unique shoe.

The creative process of the Air Yeezy began with the discussion around ideas and inspirations. The shoe began to take shape through a series of drawings and samples, each pulling inspiration and reference from some of Nike’s iconic innovations and rich design history, across both Basketball and Sportswear styles.

A careful balance was sought, each time new elements were added, with existing elements being taken away - a design process Smith refers to as “reductionism”. “Nike shoes need to function and always be innovative,” said Smith. “So the first thing we did was to make sure the design process that Kanye and Nike Design went through, mirrored that of our athletes.” “I’ve been designing Nike’s in my sketch pad since the fourth grade,” said West. “So to say I’ve been prepared for this would be an understatement. The really fun and challenging part for me was learning about Nike’s design process, learning more about fabrics and functions and colorways, and all of the details that go into designing a shoe of this quality.”

Following the fabled tradition of Nike’s design process, West and Smith went through a series of one-on-one design sessions. At Nike the ultimate test is one of performance, where the design meets the athlete’s movements. “Kanye could wear and perform in these shoes and really identify how we could make the shoes perform better.” Supplanting center court with center stage, West provided critical feedback on how the shoe performed throughout the course of his 2-3 hour performance sets, where the first prototypes of the Nike Air Yeezy were seen outside of Nike’s World Headquarters in Beaverton, OR.

*THE NIKE AIR YEEZY: NEW SCHOOL OF COMFORT.*

Born from Kanye West’s creative passion, built with Nike design and performance innovation, The Air Yeezy was fine-tuned on stages around the globe, challenging convention by remixing the past to create something uniquely new, as only Nike Sportswear can.

West is known for his non-stop energy both on the stage and off so the Air Yeezy had to support and sustain West from start to finish. An almost obsessive focus was put on delivering supreme comfort throughout the development of the shoe. Equipped with debossed ankle collar pods for added support and protection, extra-thick sock liners, a forefoot support strap, original functional tension lace loops, and Phylon tooling taken from the 1987 Nike Air Assault for added performance and comfort—all developed and integrated with one goal in mind: to keep Kanye on lock down in cushioned comfort during his performances during his many notoriously strenuous artistic live performances.

These performance attributes have been meticulously wrapped in premium full grain leather uppers and adorned with original design details that are uniquely Kanye and identifiably Nike. The remastered Nike Air Assault outsole is treated to glow-in-the-dark properties and will illuminate when the light is low. The forefoot support strap is premium grade patent leather and is of no-stitch construction. Clean seams are used throughout except for a premium suede toe wrap feature with visible stitch detail. Emblazoned across the Air Yeezy is an exclusive “Y” repeat pattern, as either a debossed or lasered detail, which takes inspiration from the Jordan brands iconic Elephant print material. This graphic treatment was developed by West and Smith to pay tribute not only to the name of the shoe and it’s co-creator, but also to the various moments in history that spurred West’s initial inspiration for the Nike Air Yeezy.

Inspiration!!!

What inspires people?? it all depends on who you are!! The Stuff that inspires me is what makes me who I am. When I listen to music, when I see art, when I see a person's life and how they got to were they are, The Journey to success. When I see art it makes me thing of everything from my sister and how F'in talented she is and how much I love her work and how I'm always gonna be her biggest supporter. To the type of life I can life around beautiful art Galleries in NY and Paris. To something as simple as the Brush strokes of the painting. Life is filled with inspiration, I'm just trying to soak it all in, Lately I've been watching Video's of Ryan Leslie make beautiful beats and I saw one were he was getting into a BAD ASS Mercedes Benz jeep? in NY and I was just thinking to my self how bad ass it would be to live out there and live my life and just do what I love, the only problem is I don't know what that is. Im constantly changing what I think and how I see things from books I've read to music i listen to. I've changed a lot just keeping in on the stage of music. Before when i was younger I would make fun of my sister's music. I would make jokes of how the song went, the whole 9..put it this way enough to call me a Douche Bag. lol But the thing was that I actually liked all the songs she played, well most of them. So I would make fun of music I actually liked, I think it was because I was Introduced into music by NaS(not literally cuz when I was younger I herd a lot of Jazz with my dad when he would drive my sister and I to school, but I got into like herd it on my Walkman, pre ipod days) SO I guess I thought I couldnt like it, which is pretty whack if you ask me. So no I'm more open to music cuz I actually liked so what the hell was I doing? makes no sense. I contribute a lot of me being open and just listening to music I like or like art I think it dope to my sister and just experiences of live. Even performances, like a performance I saw with my best friend that one LA night in the DARK!! =] life changing experiences like that keep you open to the World of Creativity for ever, Thanks KanYe. You see it doesn't matter how long it takes ya to have an open mind. It took me 17 years how long will it take you???
